In today’s society there is still a significant portion of the world’s population that is not able to access clean and safe drinking water necessary to sustain an acceptable minimum existence.
On any given day, more than 1/2 of the earth's human population is ill, with the majority of these cases caused by waterborne contaminants.
The World Health Organization of the United Nations estimates that 80% of this illness is caused by contaminated drinking water. Many countries throughout the world, not just third world countries, have inadequate water treatment facilities, or a complete lack of treatment facilities.
It is estimated that the earth has 3,100 cubic miles or 3.8 quadrillion gallons of water in the atmosphere, mostly as water vapour.
